Dear Masters, Instructors, Coaches, and Athletes,

 

Greetings, My name is Raymond Lumampao. As director of the South Texas District Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Tae Kwon Do program.  I would like to invite you and your school to participate in the South Texas AAU State Qualifying Event.  Participants who place first through eighth in this event will qualify to represent Texas at the AAU National Championships and the prestigious USA/AAU Junior Olympic Games.  The only true multi-sport weeklong event featuring the nation’s most talented athletes vying for medals in twenty sports, including Taekwondo.

 

Our tournament will be May 1, 2010 at the Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, 6300 Ocean Drive.  Corpus Christi TX 78412.  You must pre-register for this event.  There will be no registration at the door.  Registration forms must be received by April 25, 2010.  You must also be a registered AAU member to compete, coach, or officiate. Coaches must have taken the online Coach’s Certification Course at aautaekwondo.org.  There will no longer be a coach’s seminar, it is all online. The referee seminar will be held Friday April 30, 2010, 6:00pm to 9PM, at the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach,  1102 S. Friday (April 30, 2010)

Referee/Officials Seminar 6 to 9 pm. (Holiday Inn Emerald Beach)

Saturday (May 1, 2010) (Texas A&M Corpus Christi University)

8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. - Competitor Sign in/Check in

9:00 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. - Officials meeting

09:00 a.m. - All competitors need to be in holding for forms competition.

09:30 a.m. – Forms competition will start.

11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - Opening Ceremonies and Lunch break.

12:00 p.m. – Olympic sparring begins.

4:00 p.m. – Point Sparring begins

Entry fee

$70 for one or two events

$75 for three events

After pre-registration deadline: $15 late fee

No registrations at the door

Pre-registration is mandatory

Awards

Awards will be given to the top 4 in each division.

1st through 8th place qualify for national level competition.

Eligibility

AAU Membership

AAU membership is mandatory, if you are not on the AAU membership roster and you do not have your membership card, you will be required to join AAU again.  This requires a fee of $12 for youth and $20 for adults. You can register online at www.aausports.org.

State qualifier for

AAU Taekwondo Nationals – Ft. Lauderdale – June 28 to July 3rd, 2010.

AAU Junior Olympics – Chesapeake VA. – July 31st to August 2nd , 2010.

Coach’s/Masters Information/Eligibility

In order to coach at the AAU State Taekwondo Championships, you must complete and pass the Coach’s online certification at www.aautaekwondo.org. 

Coach’s attire will be enforced at this tournament. NO EXCEPTIONS. White Taekwondo Pants (or colored warm-up pants) and official blue AAU shirt.   Coach’s shirt can be purchased at www.macho.com.

COACHS, MASTERS AND INSTRUCTORS

·        Copy of current 2009-2010 AAU membership. (send copy of membership to LMA address.)

·        Official Coach’s Floor Pass form and fee.

·        Mandatory coach uniform (white dobok pants or warm-up pants and official AAU blue shirt. Coach’s shirt can be purchased at www.macho.com.).

·        Must have completed Coach’s Online Certification course.  (Please send copy of certification identification.)

 

OFFICIALS

·        Copy of 2009-2010 AAU Membership.

·        Official Clinic application form and fee. Fee payable to David Mccloskey. Turned in by April 30, 2010 (send to LMA address). 

·        Must participate in the officials seminar (April 30, 2010)

·        Application form can be found at aautaekwondo.org or picked up at the official’s seminar (April 30, 2010).

·        Official AAU attire at tournament.

·        Officials will be provided lunch, refreshments and dinner, and stipend.
