Schedule

Friday (San Antonio College Gymnasium)

·        Weigh in: Friday night only - 6 to 9pm (No Sat. Weigh-In!)

·        Coaches/Officials Seminar: 6 to 9 pm.                         

Saturday (San Antonio College)

·        Officials meeting: 9:00 to 9:15am

·        Sparring competition: Will start at 9:30am.

(5 and under) and (6 and 7) need to be in holding by 9:00 am.

Poomse competition will start after Olympic sparring competition.

Point style will start after Poomse competition.

Entry fee

$70 for one “or” two events

$75 for three events

Pre-registration mandatory! - No registration at the door!

Registrations after April 27th to May 2nd:  $30 late fee.

Registrations must be received by April 26, 2008

Awards

Gold, silver and two bronze medals

1st through 8th place qualify for national level competition.

Admission fee

$8 for adults

$4.00 for children 5 to 10, 4 and under free

Eligibility

AAU membership is mandatory, if you are not on the AAU membership roster or if you do not have your membership card, you will be required to join AAU again.  This requires a fee of $12 for youth and $20 for adults. You can register online at www.aausports.org or sign up on the form included in this packet.  AAU membership expires yearly.

State qualifier for

AAU Taekwondo Nationals – Madison WI – June 30 to July 5th, 2008

AAU Junior Olympics – July 31 to August 2, 2008Detroit MI.

Coach’s/Masters/Officials Information

In order to coach at the AAU State Taekwondo Championships, you must attend a Coach’s seminar which will be held Friday night, May 2nd at the San Antonio College Gymnasium.  (see schedule)

Coach’s attire will be enforced at this tournament. NO EXCEPTIONS. White Taekwondo Pants and official blue AAU shirt required.   Coach’s shirt can be purchased at www.macho.com.

COMPETITION RULES

 

TRADITIONAL FORMS RULES

  • Competitors must perform traditional forms.  Current rank level or below.
  • Uniforms must be neat, with sleeves below the elbows.
  • All uniforms must be white.
  • Forms will be judged on the basis of beauty, grace, rhythm, focus, power, and technique.

 

POINT SPARRING RULES

Current AAU guidelines apply. All competitors must be at the pre-competition briefing.

Only light contact is allowed.  This rule will be strictly enforced.

  • A standard white uniform.
  • Foam dipped hand and foot protectors (Red Only).
  • Foam dipped helmet (Red or White).
  • Groin protectors and mouth guard.

 

OLYMPIC SPARRING RULE

  • Current AAU/WTF guidelines apply.
  • AAU approved chest protector.
  • Shin and instep, and forearm protector (cloth and pad only)
  • Forearm protectors, must not cover the fist.
  • No plastic or vinyl protectors.
  • Approved helmet.
  • Groin protector and mouth guard.

 

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT FOR ALL COMPETITORS

  • Protective eyewear.
  • Athletic Tape.

 

MATCHES

All colored belt matches will consist of two 90-second rounds with a thirty-second rest between rounds.  All Black Belt matches shall consist of two, two-minute rounds, with a thirty second rest between rounds.  Competitors shall be allowed a full (two-minute) rest between semi-final and final matches.

Forms Can Not Be Altered or Modified. All competitors including Black Belts may do ANY form up to their current rank.  Anyone under Black Belt may begin a pattern a second time with a two-tenths (.2) deduction from the total score (not each individual judge’s score.)  When a player is called to perform his/her pattern/form, they will give their name and the name of the form they wish to present to the center referee.  Players should not say their school name, city, and or their instructor’s name.  Black Belt players are also required to state their current rank
